Feed Mill Belt Conveyors

Common types of belt conveyors used in animal feed production include: Flat belt, troughing / roller belt, flighted / cleated belt, side wall and flexible sidewall. A belt conveyor consists of two or more pulleys (drums) with a continuous loop of material (the conveyor belt) that rotates about them. Only one of the pulleys is powered.

Flat belt conveyors consist of a belt that slides over a flat surface. They can be manufactured with or without side rails and are ideal for the movement of large particle size products, especially in inspection applications. Trough or Roller Belt conveyors have a belt that conforms to the shape of supporting rollers (two or three rollers). This creates a trough that keeps granular material contained near the center of the belt.

Flighted or cleated conveyors consist of a belt with flights or cleats that create a pocket to trap particles so they can be conveyed up an angle to a different elevation. They can feature integral sidewalls on the belt (flexible) or fixed side walls on the frame to maintain the product on the belt.
