Feed Mill Drag Conveyors
Common types of drag conveyors used in animal feed production include: Drag, incline drag and tube drag. Consists of flights or paddles attached at intervals to a continuous chain or cable. The flights/paddles push materials collected in front of them along a trough or tube to the discharge point.
Drag and incline drag conveyors are very common and feature square edged flights/paddles with corresponding square trough. Totally enclosed to prevent material contamination and dusting. Material is dragged along the bottom of the conveyor with the return portion of the conveyor located on top, preventing buildup of stray material. Often the feed point features a bypass inlet to allow product to bypass the return chain while entering the conveyor. Drag conveyors can also be designed with inclined sections and with different flight/trough shapes.
Tube drag conveyors consist of a continuous cable or chain with attached circular discs. These discs push plugs of material in front of them inside a tube to the discharge point. Can be used for a wide range of product and its slow speeds fight degradation and separation. Multiple inlets and discharge points.
